The executive committee has issued the following report for the May 27, 2025 Assembly Meeting:
Notices to the Assembly
Our Executive Team is committed to using the Exec Report as a mechanism to enhance transparency, communication, and collaboration between branches. Please see THIS FORM to share feedback with the Executive Committee regarding the content and organization of the Executive Report.
The Spring/Summer budget is up for a vote in business this evening. Information about the Executive Committee’s financial plans for the Spring/Summer session can be found HERE.
NOTE: This report details what the Executive anticipates needing for our programs and initiatives throughout the Spring/Summer period, and into early Fall. The Assembly asked for our plans, and we did our best to deliver in the time-frame given. The amount we’re requesting is not yet represented in AR 15-007, though an amendment has been posed.
The Executive Committee will be meeting every-other Monday evening at 7PM ET on Zoom–members of the Assembly are welcome to attend. We imagine this open invitation will help with team-building, transparency, and enhanced communication. Expect a Google Calendar invite later this evening.
General Updates
Over the past two weeks, nominees were submitted for the positions of Communications Director and Co-Deputy Chief Programming Officers.
The Veal-Korn administration is taking applications for the 15th Executive Committee! Applications close 11:59 on June 7th. Information has been posted on Instagram, and will be shared to the CSG website and *hopefully* a brief All-Campus-Email soon. The application is open to all current and incoming students, and we implore members of the Assembly to share the application with their outlets, connections, and any/all students they think would thrive in our administration! We will do another round of applications in the Fall to fill vacant positions and various teams/commissions.
The Application Packet is LINKED HERE!
We hope to have an Elections Director nominated and confirmed by the July Assembly meeting so that the ED can contribute to minor reforms of the Election Code. If you have Election Code feedback, please feel free to discuss it with the SGC, Aiden Burke, and the future ED. We’re also interested in working with rules-related leadership in the Assembly and former UEC members to strengthen our Election Code, in alignment with initiatives and procedures at other BIG Ten schools.
Our Student Government has been contacted by numerous student-leaders across the country about creating a compact and coming together to support each other throughout this difficult time in higher education.
Eric and Lucas were invited to the Regents’ Personnel, Compensation, and Governance Committee (PCG), chaired by Regent Denise Ilitch on Thursday, June 12th.
Most of our efforts right now are directed towards building our Executive Team, building our Programming and Policy plans for the Summer into the Fall, and preparing Eric’s reports for the June 12th Regents meeting.
Communications Activities
A nomination for the Director of Communications was submitted to Speaker Woodruff on May 15th. While the nominee’s confirmation is pending, please contact Program Manager Isabella Fatseas (csg.programmanager@umich.edu) with communications inquiries. Once Communications leadership is filled, we will have more consistent updates to share.
We’re hoping to launch the first All-Campus-Email for the Veal-Korn Administration in August, and a Google Form to submit announcements will be coming by the end of June/early July.
Programs and Events
Our Chief Programming Officer, Max, has been hard at work preparing a new CSG Welcome Week event called Pie a Representative, a CSG-Sponsored Parents Weekend Picnic, and working with our Policy team on distributing additional LSAT (and maybe MCAT) materials, as well as calculator rentals, throughout the spring/summer session. Additional projects, such as the Speaker Series, are in the works.
Two Deputy CPOs have been nominated, and we await their confirmation.
Programming leadership is also accepting applications for their Programming Team. A few spots will be saved for a second wave of applications starting in the Fall.
The application can be found HERE.
Policy Team
Our Co-Directors of Policy, Emily and Larissa, have been hard at work outlining the upcoming policy goals of the Administration and meetings to schedule with relevant stakeholders (DPSS, MDining, Office of Financial Aid, etc).
We’re also planning for the CPO’s Speaker Series and the Policy Team’s directives to correspond, with each month of the administration highlighting a different policy we plan to work on, and hosting a speaker relevant to our goals.
The Policy team is always looking to collaborate with the Assembly, so please feel free to reach out to Emily and Larissa to meet or chat about a project.
